There have already been 318 cancelations and 987 delays as of Tuesday morning, according to United Airlines, the worst-performing U.S. carrier for more than a week, was on pace for its best day in nearly two weeks, with fewer than 50 cancelations. But on Tuesday by noon, it so far has canceled 57 flights and and delayed 129 flights.
Hundreds of customers have shared their frustrations about the company on social media, sparking United to compensate customers 30,000 airline miles.
Donegan, a native of Ireland and a LSU All-SEC golfer, was one of them, and explained that her golf clubs were supposed to arrive at the San Francisco airport the day prior.
'@united my golf clubs are in Newark and we're supposed to arrive in San Francisco airport yesterday. Still no sign of them and need them to play in @uswomensopen this week in Pebble Beach #wheresmyclubs,' she wrote.
United replied to Donegan's tweet: We are sorry to hear that we have delayed your golf clubs. Could you please share you tag number and/or claim number via DM so we can take a closer look?'
Donegan had just last week captured the second of two qualifying spots and was set to play the prestigious Pebble Beach Golf championships July 6-9.
